چکیده

1. Noradrenaline stimulates gluconeogenesis through an (a-adrenoceptor in renal cortical tubule fragments from fed rats incubated with 5 mM-lactate. 2. The selective a1-adrenoreceptor agonist methoxamine stimulated gluconeogenesis, but the selective a2-adrenoceptor agonist clonidine was ineffective. 3. The selective a1-adrenoceptor antagonist thymoxamine blocked the stimulatory effects on gluconeogenesis of noradrenaline and of oxymetazoline (a synthetic a-agonist). The selective a2adrenoceptor antagonist yohimbine was ineffective in this respect. 4. It is concluded that noradrenaline and oxymetazoline stimulate gluconeogenesis in rat kidney via an a1rather than an a2-type of adrenoceptor.

Evidence for stimulation of renal gluconeogenesis by catecholamines.

Isoproterenol and norepinephrine (10(-4) M) significantly increased cyclic AMP formation and glucose production by the isolated tubules of the renal cortex of the rat. These effects were abolished by propranolol. Theophylline diminished the effects of the catecholamines on gluconeogenesis despite a marked augmentation in cyclic AMP concentration. In the absence of calcium ion in the incubation ...

Epinephrine evokes renalase secretion via α-adrenoceptor/NF-κB pathways in renal proximal tubular epithelial cells.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Renalase is a recently discovered, kidney-specific monoamine oxidase that metabolizes circulating catecholamines. These findings present new insights into hypertension and chronic kidney diseases. Previous data demonstrated that renalase was mainly secreted from proximal tubules which could be evoked by catecholamines. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether renalase...

Regulation of hepatic gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis by catecholamines in rainbow trout during environmental hypoxia.

This study tests the hypothesis that catecholamines regulate glucose availability during hypoxia in the rainbow trout by activating glycogen phosphorylase (GPase) while inhibiting pyruvate kinase (PK) in the liver. The net result would be an increase in liver glycogenolysis and a reduction of glycolysis and/or enhancement of gluconeogenesis. We used the criteria of Stalmans & Hers (1975) and re...

Norepinephrine reduces ω-conotoxin-sensitive Ca2+ currents in renal afferent neurons in rats.

Sympathetic efferent and peptidergic afferent renal nerves likely influence hypertensive and inflammatory kidney disease. Our recent investigation with confocal microscopy revealed that in the kidney sympathetic nerve endings are colocalized with afferent nerve fibers (Ditting T, Tiegs G, Rodionova K, Reeh PW, Neuhuber W, Freisinger W, Veelken R. Actions of adrenergic and cholinergic drugs on renal tubular cells.

There is convincing evidence to suggest that there are direct effects of adrenergic agents on renal tubules. During the last several years, considerable progress has been made in determining the type of adrenoceptors present in renal tubular cells through the use of radioligand binding and signal transduction methods. The receptor data are summarized in table 6. Almost all major nephron segment...
